jasper and the cone

Jasper went under a surgery yesterday to have his glands removed. In order to prevent him from licking himself too much, the vet had us put a little cone on him.




He was not quite sure why the cone was on him, and he didn't really like it over his head, so he tried to get it off a few times.




He was still groggy in these photos (taken right after we came home from the vet's office, so his eyes were slightly "dreamy") but he's acting pretty like his usual self by the time we went to bed.

The dogs have been nice to him, especially a-gui. a-gui was really curious about Jasper wearing the cone, but he knew not to bother him too much.

Jasper will have his stitches out in two weeks.

Torsion has been staying with us (while Joyce is back in Taiwan) for a couple of weeks now, and everyone knows he's tiny compared to Nuki and Yama.

But then Nuki is big anyhow, so in order to see how tiny Torsion really is, I have to compare him to Jasper.

jasper nudge

This is what I have to deal with almost every time I'm trying to read in bed or going to sleep.

Jasper likes to hop onto the bed and nudge me with his head!


He'd purr, and nudge me, and purr, and nudge me, and purr, and nudge me.

He pretty much just wants me to pet him. I know. If I do start petting him, then he'd purr, and nudge me, and purr, and nudge me, and purr, and nudge me... endlessly! So I usually pet him for a couple minutes, and then hide my hands and arms in the blanket and pretend I'm asleep.

Then he'd lie down by me and starts "massaging" the side of my legs.

the cat that wears a boot

Jasper went to the vet a couple weeks ago for his teeth. He had a bandage on, which he hated, and we removed it a few days later... and underneath was just his skinny little leg! I think the vet had to shave part of his leg for the IVs.

Jasper was a lot happier after we removed the bandage... but until today the hair has not completely grown back.

It looks like Jasper is wearing a boot on his front left leg!



The boot looks tiny, and sometimes Jasper's leg looks funny, too.

A couple weeks ago I post about how Jasper liked to stick his tongue out. I asked a few of my friends who have cats, and they told me the tongue "action" was normal, but I still decided to have the vet check Jasper out, just to be sure he's OK.

The vet told us Jasper had an infection near one of his teeth Thursday. Friday we brought Jasper back to the Vet's office to have the infection taken care of. This poor little guy had 3 of his teeth out after the vet cleaned up the infection! :(


When Jasper first got home everyone wanted to see him.


He was a bit groggy for a couple of hours.

Jasper is tough, and he's doing all right. John and I have been giving him wet food under the vet's instructions, and we've also been able to sneak in his antibiotics and pain meds in the food without him noticing.

Maybe he knew there was medicine, but he eats his food anyhow. Good boy.

The only thing that really bothers him is the wrap on his front left leg. I guess that was where the vet shaved his hair, and stuck the IV needles in. Jasper still tries to shake it off and/or bite it off. I think we'll pull the wrap off and check it soon to make sure his skin is not irritated too much.

It's been kind of snowy or cloudy for the past few days (and I love it!)

Every time there's a break in the wet weather and the sun comes out, Jasper would stretch out on the rug in the front room and he'd look long and giant!


He almost looks like a big black mop.

Jasper has this spot above his eye where there seems to be an irritation to the skin. You can only see it when you look at it from above. We're having the vet check it out soon.

sticking out the tongue

I noticed a few days ago that Jasper started to stick his tongue out even when he's not eating or drinking. He'd just hang out in the kitchen with the dogs and his tongue would stick out... not like "all out," but I can see the tip of his tongue outside of the mouth for a long period of time.


Sort of like this... but not that much most of the time.

John searched online and found that some cats do like to stick their tongue out for no reason... and others stick their tongue out because they may have injuries or teeth problems in their mouth.

Jasper didn't seem to be experiencing any pain, but I'm going to continue oberserving him and making sure he's eating and all. I hope he just "feels like" having his tongue out once in a while. If not I'll have the vet check him up.

I always think Jasper is cool. He hangs out with the dogs, shares treats with the others, takes care of Ginger, and has the loudest purr.

And I think he LOOKS super cool, wise, and handsome!

Nuki and Jasper likes to hang out together, in the kitchen, the front room, the living room, the hall way, or the bedroom.

Sometimes I'd see this little lump under the blanket, and when I peek under the blanket to check it out, this is usually what I see:


And he'd give me this, "hmmm. what." look.

I've noticed that Jasper has been sitting down and stretching his arms forward (like the pic shown below) when he's just hanging out around the house. He does this on the kitty tree, the carpet, our bed, and even on the wood floor. Hmm...
