a latte

The other day John was cleaning our glassware and asked if I could make a small latte in a martini glass. Of course I could.

I liked it.

my latte art these days

I've been kinda busy this past week, with the shipment (literally over a ton of stuff!) from Taiwan and the other tiny little things here and there, I haven't been blogging. I've thought of lots of things to write about, but I just haven't got to doing it.

Anyhow, I'm going to try to write something often, even if it's little things that are just simple and mundane.

With that said, here's a photo of a small latte I made the other day:

I've been pouring these rosettas with tiny little feathers on the bottom. I like them a lot.

wiggly latte art

wiggly latte art

I think I need to be practicing pouring latte art more often. Sometimes for customers I want to be creative and pour something other than rosettas, hearts, or tulips, but then I don't want to mess things up and have to re-do it, so I'd "play safe" and still pour a rosetta, a heart, or a tulip. I just gave it "an extra wiggle" so they look different... for example the stem on the rosetta in the photo would look a bit "wiggly."

I'm going to practice pouring something different.

new chairs

We are doing small remodeling at the caffe, and John is putting together new chairs for us right now.

He's doing a really good job, and I am reading and making him yummy beverages for his hard work.

happy valentine's!

valentine's-08
I was determined to pour a little heart in everyone's latte today, and I did it. This one was the first of the day where I took a picture of it and sent to our myspace friends. Cheesy I know, but wasn't it lovely?

"open center" rosetta

I've been experimenting with slightly thinner steamed milk to create finer lines when free pouring latte art. I love seeing the rosetta with "hallow centers" in each little leaves.

I'm still working on making it more balanced.

*sniffles*

I've been a bit under the weather. After leaving the radio station last week my throat was feeling a bit scratchy, and then it started to hurt a bit, and then I had stuffy nose, and all the annoying little symptoms of catching a cold.

But I'm feeling a lot better now... plus John makes me "get-well-soon" lattes.

soy art

Free pouring latte art is what we love to do at the caffe, and while regular milk work the best in creating latte art, we also do it with other types of dairy, and soy milk. Steaming soy milk can be tricky, but I'm having fun with it. I poured the art below with soy milk.

heart heart heart

Both John and I are going to spend most of Valentine's Day at the caffe, and therefore there's not really any romantic Valentine's dinner... however he did manage to pour me a wonderful triple heart latte! It's so pretty!

rounded rosetta

Recently I've seen more of these cute rosettas that I create... they are rounded and usually located in the center of the crema and cup. They don't look super amazing, but I really like the rounded cuteness of these.

heart in the coffee

I put my heart in the coffee! I love pouring these hearts in my macchiatos and lattes. It makes me happy to see happiness on people's face when they see the little heart in the cup.
