happy angel tree

We took down the Angel Tree for Homeless Pets this morning at the caffe. People brought great pet food, toys, and treats for the homeless dogs and cats. It was a wonderful event! These donations will certainly bring a lot of tail-wagging and happy purring!

peace!

I never thought there would be anyone whom I don't know that reads my blog... but there IS! A wonderful girl, Alice, read about me searching for the video of Peace, the Handraised Polar Bearand the fact that I couldn't find it, and sent me an email.

She was so kind as to offer to send me a copy of the video... and I got it yesterday! I was already amazed when I received her email, and I was even more excited and touched when I received the DVD yesterday!

Thank you, Alice, for sending me the DVD, and for making me feel warm and happy all over! I think I'll watch the DVD some time soon, and again, I'm going to say that everyone should watch it!

blogs are fun

I've been thinking about creating another blog... a blog through a Taiwanese site where I will be keeping my thoughts and stories about life living in the U.S. ... I think it will be fun, but then I realize that I am not a great blog keeper. I need to at least keep this blog going well first!

We've been getting visitors from out of state at the caffe, and many of them are in town because of the Sundance Film Festival... and I just realized that I had never been up to the Sundance Film Festivals. It scares me to hear people talk about how many people there were... I like Park City, but probably not when there's mountains of people.

Fidelity

Regina Spektor's Fidelity is cute.

(Shake it up)

I never loved nobody fully
Always one foot on the ground
And by protecting my heart truly
I got lost in the sounds
I hear in my mind
All these voices
I hear in my mind all of these words
I hear in my mind all this music

And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
It breaks my heart

And suppose I never ever met you
Suppose we never fell in love
Suppose I never ever let you kiss me so sweet and so soft
Suppose I never ever saw you
Suppose we never ever called
Suppose I kept on singing love songs just to break my own fall
Just to break my fall
Just to break my fall
Just to break my fall
Break my fall
Break my fall

All my friends say that of course its gonna get better
Gonna get better
Better better better better
Better better better

I never love nobody fully
Always one foot on the ground
And by protecting my heart truly
I got lost
In the sounds
I hear in my mind
All these voices
I hear in my mind all these words
I hear in my mind
All this music
And it breaks my heart
And It breaks my heart

I hear in my mind
All of these voices
I hear in my mind all of these words
I hear in my mind
All of this music
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
It Breaks my
Heart
Breaks my heart
and it breaks my heart
it breaks my heart
and it breaks my heart
and it breaks my heart

rounded rosetta

Recently I've seen more of these cute rosettas that I create... they are rounded and usually located in the center of the crema and cup. They don't look super amazing, but I really like the rounded cuteness of these.

the detective is cool

We've reported a few incidents to the SLPD and for the most recent one Detective Vu was assigned to the case, and he's been very helpful and kind to us. He came in today and talked to us about a couple leads. I think the bad guy is in trouble!

kitty by the lappy

Every time I'm browsing online in my bed a kitty or two would happily join me and bump their heads on the screen. Cute, annoying sometimes, but cute.

eBay is your friend

A lot of people know that John and I buy stuff on eBay a lot. John's most recent buy was a 60-year-old hand grinder from Germany. He would once in a while hand grind coffee beans for himself and a few of our regular customers at the caffe and be really happy. I, on the other hand, have been trying to sell things on eBay! It's been fun, but sometimes it can be a pain in the butt. So far I've sold a few bags and hats. I'm wondering if I should dig out everything that we're not using or no longer need at home and sell them as well... could be fun.

katsu kare

While we were in Japan we had a lot of yummy Japanese curry, or Kare (kaa-lae). There were curry udon, curry bowls, and different "toppings" the Japanese put on the curry. "katsu kare" (lit. fried coated pork chop curry) was among some of the most popular in Japan.

I have been doing research on different recipes, the ones that are not just regular curry, but "kare". I've found that in order to make the special Japanese curry sauce you usually need to use fresh fruits in the recipe. Interesting. I'm going to attempt to make some tonight and we'll see how it goes.

slacking off blogger

Yes I have been slacking off and not been blogging enough recently. There are many things I'd love to blog about, but at the same time there ARE so many things I'm doing that I just don't get to write them up or loading photos of them.

Anyhow, the trip to Japan was wonderful, and the new year has been great. Busy, but great. John and I are working on various projects, small and big, and it's been a lot of fun.

OK I think I will be blogging more frequently.
