a cup with a cute lady bug on it

There I was, again, quite "busy" these days to quiet myself down and post something on my blog. But this morning I thought, I must post something today. I must!

And here I am! Today I'm going to post about one of my cup collections... a cute vintage Japanese cup with beautiful black and white flowers, and a lovely lady bug (actually there are two of them) on it. It holds a little less than 8 oz. of liquid, which is perfect for me!

And yes, you know me, I've been drinking almost everything out of it these days.

roses

We got some lovely and potent dry roses (ori. Germany) for teas at the caffe. They smell and taste so wonderful!

They look beautiful, too.

And of course I have to find a pretty little vintage English tin for them.

Ahhh. Pretty (and tasty) roses and cute little tins make me happy.

little retro mug

I found this little vintage mug at the secondhand store. It has a red "Japan" on the bottom... and I think it was from the 70s. I love the brown retro designs on the cup!

And its 8oz. capacity is perfect for me to have my Americanos or lattes in.

IKEA dubbla chokladflarn

I bought these Dubbla Chokladflarn cookies last time I went to IKEA. I don't know Swedish, but I figured "Dubbla Chokladflarn" should be, or close to "Double Chocolate," and double chocolate is always good.

The pink box is an added bonus.

nuki and a cookie
They are two thin and crispy oatmeal cookies dipped in dark chocolate and stuck together (almost like a sandwich cookie, but not quite). The cookie's texture and taste remind me of chocolate-covered corn flakes. Nuki is really interested in the noise caused by the their crispiness.

IKEA either wants you to share all the cookies with others, finish them very quickly, or find your own container for the cookies, because the box is wide open after you ripped open the outside plastic wrapper.

I'm glad I found this vintage Rubbermaid because it's perfect for cookies!

strawberry cup

This is my favorite cup to use at the caffe these days. It's a 1990 Roy Kirkham English "Fruit Garden" collection bone china. There are many strawberries and strawberry leaves and flowers on the cup, its handle, and even on the inner side.

John said, "It looks very English." And I said, "Exactly."

It also reminds me how much I really want to have my own little fruit garden!

vintage morton salt advertising mug

I found this wonderful little vintage mug the other day, and it has become my favorite mug to use this week. hehe.

I did a quick research, and found that this vintage Morton "When It Rains It Pours" mug was manufactred in Japan in the late 70s, and ended on 1980. The pattern on the cup features the Morton 1914 design. I think there were a couple more other designs as well.

Morton also released a new set of 4 mugs of the designs in 1998... I believe they are more white and bright in color.

The mug is rounded and smooth to the touch. I love it!
