[Tokyo Fall 2008] Ueno Park - Kyomizukannondo

We continue walking and enjoying the views at Ueno Park, and then saw a hand-cleaning fountain.

Normally when you see these fountains (temizuya) outside of temples. People who are going into the temple will wash their hands prior to entering the temple.

So I asked John to demonstrate.

I know some people who would also drink from the fountain... I've not yet tried it.

We then saw a few beautiful wood buildings, and signs that said these were built in the late 1600s.

We finally found out we were at Kyomizukannodo temple... we just entered from its exit.
